Which sellers will be impacted by the General Product Safety Regulations?
If the seller meets both of the following requirements, they need to complete the compliance requirements of the regulation before December 13, 2024 (local time):
Selling goods in the European Union and Northern Ireland;
Selling non food consumer goods.
This means that most Amazon European sellers will be affected by this regulation. When this regulation comes into effect on December 13, 2024, sellers must have valid EU responsible persons and manufacturer information in their product information, otherwise the listing will be removed.
How to achieve compliance with the General Product Safety Regulations, Amazon has also provided some suggestions:
01 Ensure that all products sold in the EU&Northern Ireland meet existing labeling and traceability requirements.
02 Please provide the EU responsible person for the products you sell. The following personnel can become EU responsible persons:
① Manufacturer (if registered within the European Union);
② Importers registered within the European Union;
③ The authorized representative of a company registered within the European Union, designated in writing by the manufacturer or brand as the person in charge;
④ A delivery service provider registered within the European Union responsible for delivering goods.
03 Ensure that the product label includes the following information:
① Contact information of the EU responsible person (postal address and email address/URL);
② Warning and safety information (please use the language of the sales country/region);
③ Label for product type, batch or serial number or other elements;
④ The postal address and email address/URL of the manufacturer and importer (if applicable), as well as the postal address or email address/URL of the single point of contact who can contact them (if different from the above address).
04 Ensure that the following information is displayed in the online product information (product details page):
① The name and detailed contact information of the EU responsible person, including postal address and email address/URL;
② Manufacturer’s name and detailed contact information, including postal address and email address/URL;
③ In addition to displaying labeling and labeling information that complies with applicable EU product safety and compliance laws, warning and safety information should also be displayed, ensuring that these information are in the language of the selling country/region.
At present, although the General Product Safety Regulations have not yet been implemented, sellers can upload relevant information through widgets in advance to avoid being overwhelmed by deadlines.
